Our university, as with many others throughout the world, has a relatively low pass rate in the introductory computer science courses. Over the course of more than fifteen years, various changes have been made to the introductory course sequence with the hope of improving student success. We describe these changes and perform an initial analysis of student course performance that finds little change...
The conversations and debates concerning how a student's time on campus translates to better results upon graduation are not going away. Every day institutions of higher education are challenged to explicitly demonstrate and provide a clear articulation of the value of education as measured by post-graduation employment. We discuss strategies implemented in a computer science program to address the...
Corporate software development often takes place within a complex organizational structure, potentially encompassing many individuals. With constant improvements in network and communication technologies, those organizations may be widely distributed through time and space. In computer science and education, group projects are typically included as part of an undergraduate and graduate engineering...
Despite increasing demands for computing professionals in the global economy, interest in computing careers and their related university majors has declined steadily over the past decade, leading to challenges in recruiting undergraduate majors in computing programs. These problems are exacerbated when the university serves traditionally underrepresented groups and students who come from economically...
In this paper a design method of a nonresonant multislots waveguide array antenna is described. The internal mutual couplings between adjacent radiating slots are considered in the presented wave method. Additionally a correction stage including nonresonant slot lengths is introduced in design method in order to evaluate an internal mutual couplings influence on antenna radiation pattern. As an example...
This paper elaborates on some aspects of the technology developing of a new group of microwave dielectrics with epsiv' = 40 divide 90 based on titanates and their mixtures, especially on the base of barium titanates doped with ions of metals from the lanthanum group Re rArrSm, Gd, Nd, La, Pr. All dielectrics were manufactured by the typical ceramics technology. The dielectric parameters such as epsiv'...
The design and construction of four elements linear slot array antenna intended to work in DECT microwave equipments is presented in this paper. The multiport power divider of the antenna under consideration is realized in a nonsymmetrical shielded microstrip line technology. The model of the antenna has been constructed and the experimental results are also presented.
