Recently, the exchange bias (EB) phenomenon in the ferromagnet/antiferromagnet (FM/AFM) bilayer and its inborn instability effect, i.e., training effect [1], have attracted much attention for its great technological importance in spintronic devices. Usually, the study of training effect is performed by continuously recording the exchange field (HE) and the coercivity (HC) after measuring an entire...
The direct torque and stator flux control (DTFC) for PMSM drives has been used as in many applications [1]-[3]. In traditional DTFC system, the stator flux linkage is estimated by integrating the induced voltage vector. The stator voltage vectors could either be measured by sensor or re-constructed using inverter switching status and the DC bus voltage. However, the measurements of voltage pulse trains...
A parallel metamorphic mechanism with two configuration, whose moving plate have translational or orientational output respectively through configuration-switch, is introduced. Different output of each configuration and complex coupling of the kinematic chains during configuration-switch process make it difficult to get the optimum results for the conventional optimization method. As well as the same...
We theoretically investigate interacting dark resonances in a plasmonic meta-molecule comprising a bright nano-antenna coupled to cascaded dark elements. This structure enables efficient energy transfer and exhibits sub-natural spectral response analogous to the atomic counterpart.
This paper reports a 3-dimensional (3D) micro-optical coupling system for improving coupling efficiency in the Littrow configured micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) tunable lasers. In the coupling system, an optical fiber acts as a rod lens for light convergence in the vertical plane, while a deep-etched silicon parabolic mirror confines the light in the horizontal plane. Compared with previous...
An EMS (ElectroMagnetic Suspension) system is a complex control system, consisting of many interacting subsystems. For control design, there is an obvious trade-off between design complexity and performance, just as there is a trade-off between model complexity and its utility. In this paper, we represent three mathematic models of an EMS system, and demonstrate theoretically that the model based...
We have experimentally investigated dual-layer fishnet structures in the terahertz regime. The dispersion behavior of the different modes in this structure is inferred from their response to changes in THz wave incident angle and the thickness of the dielectric layer separating the two metallic films. The theory of magnetic plasmon polariton (MPP) is applied to explain the coupled dispersive modes.
We demonstrate structurally reconfigurable metamaterials with a marked tunability of both electric and magnetic responses at terahertz frequencies where artificial “atoms” reorient within unit cells in response to an external stimulus.
