We proposed RF direct-detection vector signal generation using optical I/Q up-conversion. The Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization procedure is employed to compensate I/Q imbalance. After transmission over 100-km SMF, penalties of 5-Gb/s QPSK signals can be ignored.
Hybrid access network integrated with multi-level wireless vector signal and wireline OOK signal without optical filter is proposed for the first time. 312.5-MSymbol/sec RF 8-PSK signal and 1.25-Gb/sec BB signal are experimentally demonstrated.
A novel compact sensor approach utilizing the wide current tunability of VCSELs with reference gas in the photodetector is reported. This inherent spectral self-calibrating technique is demonstrated with the first carbon-monoxide sensor at 2.3 mum.
5 Gb/s 16 QAM OFDM signal for ROF downstream link and 1.25 Gb/s OOK signal via RSOA for upstream link are demonstrated. Negligible penalty is observed after 25 km SMF.
Both highly spectral-efficient direct-detection 15-Gb/s 64-QAM and 20-Gb/s 16-QAM OFDM signals are demonstrated. Negligible penalty is observed following 25-km SMF transmission.
This paper presents recent progress on InP-based long-wavelength buried tunnel junction-vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (BTJ-VCSELs) with wavelengths significantly beyond the communication range. This spectral region comprises strong absorption lines of several important species such as H2O (1877 nm), CO2 (2004 nm) or CO (2339 nm).
We experimentally studied the cascadability of a 200 GHz channel spaced ROADM for Metro network applications using a re-circulating loop. After seven cascaded nodes and 1100-km transmission, a 2.5 dB sensitivity penalty was observed.
Two-stage double-pass EDFA with a broadband flat gain is constructed in a hermetically sealed package. The EDFA has a low noise-figure of 4 dB, a high output power exceeding 15 dBm and a /spl plusmn/0.2 dB gain flatness over a 30 nm bandwidth.
