Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were synthesized by the catalytic decomposition of hydrocarbons using a floating catalyst method. Thin flakes consisting of aligned MWNTs were separated from the as-prepared products and then employed for the measurements of their field emission properties. The obtained results indicate that the aligned MWNTs are promising for field emission.
