To evaluate whether single-leaf partial meniscectomy in horizontal tears along the entire discoid lateral meniscus has any advantages in clinical and radiological results compared with other meniscectomies in discoid lateral meniscus.A total of 145 patients with a horizontal tear pattern in symptomatic lateral discoid meniscus were retrospectively reviewed. Twenty-seven patients had undergone full-extent...
Unstable inferior leaves of the anterior horn in horizontal tears of the lateral meniscus are challenging lesions for most orthopedic surgeons due to the poor viewing angle and the instability of these lesions. Resection of an exact volume is required for the successful treatment of horizontal tears in the lateral meniscus anterior horn. We report a method based on the joystick technique.
Intraarticular fracture of the lateral tibial plateau is one of the serious complications in medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO). We present a case of fracture of the lateral tibial plateau during medial opening wedge HTO. The authors have found the early fracture sign, uneven divergence gap of proximal and distal parts during enlargement of the osteotomy site with a dilatator, a useful...
The prognosis of unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) is strongly associated with the accuracy of the component alignment. To determine the accuracy of navigated UKA during primary minimally invasive Oxford UKA, twenty-nine knees of 29 consecutive patients (Group A) implanted using conventional instrumented UKA were followed by 23 knees of 17 consecutive patients (Group B) implanted by navigation...
Patellar clunk syndrome is due to a suprapatellar fibrous nodule which develops at the junction between the proximal patella and the quadriceps tendon after total knee arthroplasty. Twelve patients (12 knees) who underwent arthroscopic treatment for the painful patellar crepitus or clunk after total knee arthroplasty had been followed at least for 1 year were enrolled. The average onset of symptom...
A discoid medial meniscus is a relatively rare pathology of the knee joint. And bilateral cases are even more rare. In the review of the literature by the authors, Only 13 cases of bilateral medial discoid menisci have been reported. We present one case of bilateral discoid medial menisci. One knee had an incomplete type verified by both magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and arthroscopy. The other...
We present an arthroscopic repair technique (all inside suture) for chronic capsular defect of posterolateral space of knee joint developed after previous popliteal cystectomy. We use a transseptal posteromedial viewing portal, and two posterolateral working portals. This procedure can be an alternative to an open repair technique for a posterior capsular defect after open cystectomy.
