We have demonstrated broadly tunable mid-infrared generation from 5 mum to12 mum by difference frequency generation pumped with an electronically-tuned-Ti:sapphire laser. Rapid- and random-access of wavelength is realized in the mid-infrared region.
All-solid-state 589 nm coherent source was achieved by sum-frequency mixing in periodically poled KTP of mode-locked pulses at 1064 and 1319 nm. Even for single-pass pumping of 5-mm-long-crystal, conversion efficiency was reached to 14%.
1-ms wavelength-switching in a mid-infrared range was achieved by difference-frequency mixing in an In-doped AgGaS/sub 2/ crystal. Tuning range was shifted to a longer wavelength region maintaining noncritical phase-matching with increase of indium concentration.
