In this paper, the detailed characteristics of the conically conformal microstrip antenna element and the mutual coupling effects between two antenna elements are analyzed by using the rigorous conformal FDTD algorithm in the Cartesian coordinate. The effectiveness and correctness of the method are verified by comparing the numerical results with the corresponding ones presented in the existing literatures...
The conformal FDTD algorithm is employed to analyze the characteristics of the probe-fed conically conformal microstrip patch antenna. The non-uniform meshing technique in Cartesian coordinate system is used. The numerical results show that the conformal algorithm is efficient and accurate enough, besides its better adaptability in dealing with arbitrary antenna structures and shapes.
