A novel broadband Terahertz antenna design covering 100–600 GHz is developed as imaging pixel of THz focal plane array. Proposed focal plane array consist of novel cross bow tie antenna on quartz substrate behind the quartz hyper hemispherical lens. FPA performance is studied at low and high frequencies to determine the pixel pitch and number of effective pixels. Off axis performance of FPA is studied...
The demand on portable and user-friendly wireless communication devices has geared up accordingly which necessitates optimal miniaturised built-in antenna for mobile terminals. This paper presents a design of a miniaturized circular microstrip L-probe wideband patch antenna for achieving diversity operation at mobile terminals. The design is optimised to cover the UMTS, LTE and WLAN. A prototype is...
The portable GPS mobile terminal antennas experience multipath effects as the environmental objects in the vicinity cause the incident radio waves to reflect, diffract and scatter. Therefore, the GPS antenna's performance in real working environment cannot be judged on the basis of traditional electromagnetic analysis of the free space antenna parameters. Moreover, the mobile terminal GPS antennas...
Electromagnetic waves transmitted by GPS satellite arriving at a GPS mobile terminal antenna undergo reflection, diffraction and scattering from various environmental objects in the vicinity. It results in the formation of a multipath arrival of the wave at the receiving mobile terminal antenna. The traditional approaches to analyse the antenna performance are therefore, not capable to describe the...
A novel design of circular polarisation microstrip patch antennas based on the complementary split ring resonator is numerically evaluated and experimentally verified. The non-resonant property of complementary split ring resonator is used as an asymmetric perturbation to excite the square microstrip patch antenna for circular polarisation radiation. The detailed parameters of the complementary split...
The paper reviews the monopole and dipole antennas used in UWB, and proposes a simple model that explains their impedance and radiation patterns. Then some commercial issues are described, which includes practical and compact designs, and the consequences of attaching antennas to consumer equipment.
A planar tapered-slot-fed antenna is studied in this paper. The antenna is printed on a dielectric substrate and fed by a microstrip line to slotline transition. The performance of antenna is investigated in both frequency and time domain. It has been demonstrated numerically and experimentally that this directional type of antenna is suitable for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications.
