We demonstrate a chaotic microcavity laser which not only produces unidirectional emission but also has a quality factor of 22000. The output beam has a divergence angle less than 40 degree for all lasing modes.
We observed the directional output from GaAs micro-stadium lasers at low temperature, by the scatted emission on a ring enclosure structure. Our numerical simulation shows the directionality of the laser emission fit classical ray dynamics.
We present the design and fabrication of a novel laser structure, the hybrid silicon evanescent laser. This structure utilizes offset AlGaInAs quantum wells (QWs) bonded to a silicon waveguide. With this structure, the optical mode is predominantly confined in the passive silicon waveguide and is evanescently coupled to the AlGaInAs strained QWs. The optimal design of the optical waveguide for delivering...
Summary form only given. In the quest to improve distributed feedback lasers for telecommunication systems, it is critical to be able to characterize these lasers effectively. In this paper, we use out model for the amplified spontaneous emission from DFB lasers coupled with our model for the material gain of strained quantum well lasers to analyze data measured on a 1.55-/spl mu/m InGaAsP-InGaAsP...
