Cotton, sponge and alginate-Ca as immobilized matrix were used in the biological treatment of heavy metal wastewater. The effects of the different immobilized matrix and the growth of synechococcus sp. were studied. The effects by the cotton and sponge were not good, despite of a high growth rate and a long life of synechococcus sp obtained with cotton. Alginate-Ca was the best immobilized matrix...
Methods and materials of immobilization of Anabaena sp. used in wastewater treatment were studied in this work .The results showed the polyurethane foam (PUF) could be an excellent organic polymer immobilization matrix, which can hold as much as 15 mg dry weight of Anabaena sp. by 1 cm3 PUF. 70.2% efficiency of Zn2+ cleansing in flowing wastewater at the speed of 3 mL/min could be reached.
Transgenic cyanobacterium, Synechococcus sp., was used to absorb the heavy mental ions from industry waste water, according by the high affinity of mentallothionein(MT) in the cells. The waste water contained Ni2+ 44.8 mg/L before it was treated by transgenic Synechococcus sp. PCC7002 with MT gene. The result showed that the concentration of the Ni2+ in the waste water could be decreased to 37.37...
