This paper presents a near-optimum, low-complexity, fixed-interval smoothing algorithm that approaches the performance of an optimal smoother for the price of two low-complexity sequential estimators (two PLLs). The proposed Smoothing PLL (S-PLL) algorithm is easy to implement and fits the Cramer-Rao bounds over a wide range of signal-to-noise ratios. Moreover we show that, compared to the conventional...
In this paper, we study Bayesian and hybrid Cramer-Rao bounds (BCRB and HCRB) for the code-aided (CA) dynamical phase estimation of QAM modulated signals. In order to avoid the calculus of the inverse of the Bayesian information matrix and of the hybrid information matrix, we present some analytical expressions for the various CRBs, which greatly reduce the computation complexity.
In this paper, we study Bayesian and hybrid Cramer-Rao bounds for the dynamical phase estimation of QAM modulated signals. We present the analytical expressions for the various CRBs. This avoids the calculation of any matrix inversion and thus greatly reduces the computation complexity. Through simulations, we also illustrate the behaviors of the BCRB and of the HCRB with the signal-to-noise ratio.
By transporting the I- and Q-baseband QAM components using two inexpensive 460 nm and 520 nm wavelength LEDs, 100 Mbit/s transmission over 100 m large core SI PMMA POF has been realized.
Advanced optically-emulated x-QAM techniques and the modal dispersion-robust radio-over-fiber OFM technique enable the delivery of high-capacity data via a single multimode (silica or polymer) optical fiber in-building network to wired as well as wireless terminals.
Optical fibre is marching fast towards the user's doorstep, as witnessed by the many new Fibre-To-The-Home installations. The next challenge is to disclose the power of optical communication inside the home, so to bring the full broadband potential to the end user. The presentation will describe the latest advances in our research into low-cost in-home techniques, encompassing techniques for service...
Low-cost QAM chip sets enable high-capacity data transport over highly-dispersive POF links. The feasibility of QAM-64 and -256 system implementation options is shown. Wavelength-sliced QAM-64 performs the best regarding bandwidth consumption and link power budget.
