Der Katalysemechanismus des Enzyms IspH, das an der Bildung von Isopentenyl‐ und Dimethylallyldiphosphat beteiligt ist, wurde mit HYSCORE‐Spektroskopie und DFT‐Methoden untersucht. Die Ergebnisse bestätigen die Bildung eines Allylanions im Komplex mit einem HiPIP‐artigen oxidierten 4Fe‐4S‐Cluster, nicht aber die Bildung eines cyclischen Ferraoxetan‐Intermediats, wie an anderer Stelle berichtet wurde.
