Inspired by very promising results of 6–8wt.% hydrogen storage in conducting polymers claimed in recent years, we reproduced very carefully these experiments comprising chemical treatment of these materials and hydrogen uptake measurements. However, our results show clearly that no hydrogen storage is measured for HCl-treated polyaniline and polypirrole, neither at room temperature nor at 77K.
In this study heterostructures were obtained as thin films of carbon nanotubes (CNTs)/conducting polymers (CP) on transparent substrates. Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) were deposited on a transparent substrate and used as electrodes in order to grow a thin film of CP on it electrochemically. The resulting heterostructure may be sufficiently transparent and electrically conductive to be used...
