We consider optical transparent networks where ROADMs enable wavelength routing through dispersion-managed and unmanaged domains of G.652 fiber. The WDM performance of 32 GBaud DP-QPSK signals and the evolution of nonlinear noise are evaluated.
An in-service field trial with coherently detected DP-QPSK at 112 Gb/s was performed over a Telefónica live link of 848 km, testing long term stability and determining noise margin and optimum launch power of the format.
An effective lightpath provisioning is proposed for PCE-based optical networks with flexible grid. The expected modulation formats at 400 Gb/s are considered showing that 12.5 GHz spacing is satisfactory to guarantee efficient network resource utilization.
