A novel 1.25/10.3 Gbit/s burst-mode bit-rate discrimination circuit (B-BDC) for dual-rate burst-mode optical receivers in coexisting 1 and 10 Gbit/s-class PON systems is proposed and demonstrated. This BDC can distinguish the bit rate of received burst signals and eliminate the external control signal currently provided for the receiver by a media access control LSI. It can operate instantaneously...
We propose a 1.25/10.3-Gbit/s bit rate discrimination circuit that can distinguish the bit rate of burst signals in 50 ns. A dual-rate burst-mode receiver including this circuit can operate correctly without any external control signals.
We propose and demonstrate a 1.25/10.3-Gbit/s dual-rate burst-mode receiver with two gate circuits to separate the signals according to the bit rate of the input signals. This receiver is cost effective because it employs devices with an ac-coupled interface and no reset signals.
A 1.25/10.3 Gbit/s dual-rate burst-mode receiver is proposed, which uses a tunable lowpass filter to change the sensitivity for each bit rate and an output-port selector to switch the output port according to the input bit rate. It is demonstrated that this receiver can realise a high sensitivity, a wide dynamic range, and a high-speed response with long consecutive identical digit signals.
