A systematic approach in developing a 4-port structural antenna system on a Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (SUAV) is presented. The largest dimension of the SUAV is 0.67 wavelength of the operating frequency. Using Characteristic Mode (CM) Analysis, two significant CMs with good radiation efficiency are identified. The radiation patterns of these two CMs can be synthesized by combining the individual...
This paper presents an investigation of cross ring/disc antenna for UWB applications. A coaxial cable fed cross the ring antenna with satisfactory -10 dB return loss bandwidth is firstly designed. In order to minimize the radiation pattern distortion at 9 GHz, an extended ground plane is then introduced. A comparison of performance of four different kinds of cross ring/disc antennas is also illustrated.
