We propose two novel beam steering lenses by metamaterials. The first one is a low graded index lens that can be used for beam compression and collimation. The refraction index profile of this lens is Mikaelian's lens with extremely low refraction index. We design a metal-wire array to realize this lens. The second lens is designed for extending the scanning angle of a phased array antenna by Transformation...
UWB signal is robust for indoor dense multipath environment and has delicate time resolution. By taking advantage of these characters, indoor positioning system based on TOA and AOA measurements has been investigated. It has been shown that joint TOA/AOA estimation method has provided excellent performance for indoor localization. However, large bandwidth receiver ADC is of high hardware complexity...
A novel structure of silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) is reported. In this structure, a vertical bulk-Si quenching resistor is introduced to replace the poly-Si resistor in the SiPM cell, which can help to improve the fill factor of the SiPM for more efficient photon detection. A current-blocking layer is inserted into the resistor layer to reduce the cross-section of the resistor so that the necessary...
This paper demonstrates the fabrication of silicon APD array for clinical imaging applications. The fabrication process is compatible with CMOS platform. The measurement results show they are able to achieve low dark current (before breakdown) and operate linearly after breakdown (Geiger mode). Further improvement will be implemented in design and fabrication to improve the leakage current‥
