An optimized multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna system is proposed. It is based on the traditional planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) design, accommodated on a printed circuit board (PCB) for mobile handsets and operating at 21.6GHz. The PIFA dimension is reduced by 30% with meander structure etched on the conventional PIFA. Diversity performances of a parallel dual-element Meander PIFA array...
A compact and planar dual-antenna structure is reported which combines a printed monopole and a half-slot antenna to provide dual polarization. Different excited current modes are utilized to obtain low mutual coupling between elements. A prototype is fabricated and the measured results are presented. Relative bandwidth of 23.5% and isolation of better than 23 dB are achieved.
The effects of vehicle furnishings on the performance of a planar multi-band window mounted automotive antenna are discussed. Simulated and measured antenna performance together with field distributions within the vehicle cabin at 900 MHz and 1800 MHz shows the importance of including sufficient cabin furnishings in an electromagnetic model.
