In this paper, we have provided a model to minimize the unnecessary handovers from a cellular network to a WLAN. Exploiting traveling distance prediction method, the proposed handover necessity estimation mechanism uses distance threshold parameters to avoid unnecessary handovers. Our analysis and simulation results suggest that the proposed mechanism can keep the probabilities of handover failure...
