An integrated sensor utilizing short range surface plasmon polariton mode is proposed and realized, which demonstrates the sensitivity as high as 0.67dB/nm for ultra-thin layer detection.
This paper reports the research on plasmonics-based devices. Coupling characteristics of both long- and short-range surface plasmon polariton (SPP) waveguide are analyzed. Basing on the hybrid coupler structures, TM/TE polarization splitter and integrated sensor are developed. We also propose and demonstrate plasmonic enhanced organic solar cells using metal nanoparticles.
An integrated sensor based on vertical coupler composed of short range surface plasmon polariton waveguide and SiNx waveguide has been realized, which is potential for ultra-thin layer detecting with rather high sensitivity.
