We report on measurements of gain variations in an erbium-doped fiber amplifier. Transient gain saturation and recovery are measured using a self-probe technique and a pump-probe technique, respectively. Wavelength dependences of them are discussed.
We report on development of a pulse generation system for realization of optical memory based on optical interference inside a fiber amplifier. Properties of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier are precisely evaluated as a memory medium. Under a CW pumping condition, pulse width, pulse interval and pumping power dependences of gain saturation are precisely measured. The dependences are discussed by assuming...
Optical coherent tomography (OCT) using a tunable single-mode laser is investigated to clarify the effects of the long coherence length and step-wise frequency changes.
A Fourier domain OCT (FD-OCT) system for obtaining a two-dimensional image is constructed. Imaging characteristics of the OCT system are experimentally investigated and analyzed with consideration of spatial mode coupling.
