A novel carbon allotrope, T-carbon, is attempted to obtain by using plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) on the substrates of polycrystalline diamond and single crystalline diamond, respectively. Our measured x-ray diffraction, Raman and infrared spectra of the new form of carbon are in good agreement with the calculated results of T-carbon, and the lattice parameter meets with the results...
Designing highly efficient and stable electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is critical to the large-scale application of clean hydrogen energy. Herein, NiFe@N-doped graphene microtube (NiFe-NGMT) composites have been synthesized by a facile metal organic framework (MOF) precursor route, and employed as an effective electrocatalyst for HER. The NiFe-NGMT composites, which consist...
As phase change composites, high thermal conductivity, large latent heat of fusion and good shape stability are all required for practical applications. By combining defect-free graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) and microcrystalline cellulose, lightweight cellulose/GNP aerogels are fabricated and their highly porous but strong three-dimensional networks benefit the encapsulation of polyethylene glycol...
A novel synthetic strategy has been developed for facile, green and low-cost fabrication of highly photoluminescent carbon dots (C-dots) by hydrothermal treatment of ethanol in aqueous hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) solution. Noticeably, the synthesized C-dots present an unexpectedly large quantum yield of 38.7% without any post-treatments. In contrast to the most amorphous C-dots, the ethanol-derived C-dots...
Proper disposal of waste frying oil (WFO) is an important waste-management concern. In this paper, we develop a facile method to reuse WFO for one-step synthesis of sulfur-doped carbon dots (S-C-dots) with the assistance of concentrated sulfuric acid. The as-synthesized S-C-dots are uniform in size and show partial disordered graphite-like structure. Different from the doping-free or nitrogen-doped...
Carbon-microtube ring were synthesized by a multi-step template mechanism. Firstly, silica microrings were produced as template by the oxidization of silicon wafer, and then the silica microrings were coated with carbon layers from the decomposed methane. Finally, the silica microrings were removed with hydrofluoric acid, which allows the formation of carbon-microtube rings.
