Optical image transport through low-loss silica-air based disordered fiber is reported for the first time. Transverse Anderson localization is confirmed by propagating a 976nm laser beam through a 4.6-cm-long segment of random fiber.
We propose 8-dimensional 8192QAM to balance the nonlinear transmission performance and add/drop induced optical filtering. Simulations show that this format outperforms conventional PDM-16QAM, PDM-8QAM, and 4-dimensional 128QAM for 200-Gbit/s/channel optical networks with cascaded add/drop nodes.
We experimentally demonstrate 4×100-Gb/s PM-QPSK transmission with a 50-GHz channel spacing and a span length greater than 250 km over a record reach of 2800 km. The transmission system uses a low-loss large-effective-area fiber and EDFA/DRA amplification.
We propose, for the first time, set-partition (SP) format based optical OFDM and experimentally show that SP-64QAM/SP-128QAM intensity-modulation direct-detection OFDM exhibits greatly improved performance over conventional 16QAM and 8QAM OFDM.
4×10 Gb/s polarization- and mode group-multiplexed transmission without MIMO equalization for data center applications is experimentally demonstrated, for the first time, over a panda-type polarization-maintaining few mode fiber.
This paper proposes a novel method to acquire MEMS resonator's temperature based on the measurement of quality factor via continuous ring-down without additional thermometer. Quality factor, a parameter of resonator is utilized as a virtual thermometer, which attenuates measuring hysteresis and improves the performance of temperature compensation. In addition, to precisely measure the quality factor,...
Based on the features and limitations of maritime communication in the associated areas, this paper focuses on the key technology of wide-band communication network at sea under E-navigation framework. New methods and strategies to realize wide-band communication as well as some issues to be tackled for ensuring its development had been addressed. Especially, the WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability...
The accurate measurement of total mode coupling in FMFs was achieved by a modified S2 imaging system with electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. The measurement accuracy of total discrete and distributed mode coupling was improved by 1.41dB and 2.67dB, respectively.
The dynamic properties of DFB- and DML-based injection lock lasers are investigated by analyzing the instantaneous frequency of the master and slave lasers' beat signal. Around 10∼20 ns locking time is measured by burst signal injection and a large injection ratio leads to longer unlocking time.
This paper presents a proposed cuckoo search algorithm with interactive learning and linear decreasing probability strategy (CSIL) to solve the economic dispatch problem with power balance, prohibited operating zones, valve point effect, and ramp rate. In the new approach, interactive learning strategy helps the nest to exchange good information from each other. Meanwhile, the linear decreasing probability...
In this paper, we present a Self-Supervised Neural Aggregation Network (SS-NAN) for human parsing. SS-NAN adaptively learns to aggregate the multi-scale features at each pixel "address". In order to further improve the feature discriminative capacity, a self-supervised joint loss is adopted as an auxiliary learning strategy, which imposes human joint structures into parsing results without...
This paper presents the proposed solution to the "affect in the wild" challenge, which aims to estimate the affective level, i.e. the valence and arousal values, of every frame in a video. A carefully designed deep convolutional neural network (a variation of residual network) for affective level estimation of facial expressions is first implemented as a baseline. Next we use multiple memory...
Low intensity noise laser sources are a fundamental prerequisite for demanding fundamental research such as interferometric gravitational-wave detection (GWD) [1], precision spectroscopy, LIDAR, and ultra-cold atom/molecular optical lattices. Besides, high power lasers with low intensity noise also attract great interest in the industry applications. Direct pump current control is the simplest method...
Intelligent vehicle has the trend for multiple ADAS system combined with each other, the traditional ACC generally with cruise control mode, accelerate control mode, stable follow control mode, decelerate control mode, emergency brake collision avoidance control mode, no combination of FCW and AEB function. This paper proposes a ACC system combined with FCW and AEB function, this system based on electric...
A permutation flowshop scheduling problem of optimizing the makespan and the total flow time, which can be expressed as Fm|prum|(Cmax, ΣCi), is considered in this paper. An improved multi-objective memetic algorithm (IMOMA) is proposed due to the NP-hardness of the problem. In order to effectively trade-off between two objectives, we propose a NEH and LR heuristic based initialization strategy and...
An optical sensor based on a polarization-maintaining few-mode fiber (PM-FMF) for simultaneous sensing of temperature and strain is demonstrated, for the first time. The sensor has a temperature sensitivity of about 175 pm/°C and a strain sensitivity of about 5 pm/με with an accuracy of 0.1°C and 10 με.
We experimentally demonstrate individual OCT precoding and SVD-based adaptive loading to boost the capacity of MIMO-OFDM VLC systems. For 1.5-Gbit/s 1-m transmission, the average BER can be reduced from 1.7×10−2 to 4.1 × 10−3 and 4.7×10−4, respectively.
Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique is used in photovoltaic (PV) power generation system to assume the maximum power point (MPP) no matter how the PV panel temperature and irradiation conditions change. It plays a decisive role in PV power generation system. Therefore, this paper introduces a modified optimal voltage control (OVC) method coupled with active disturbance rejection control...
With the application of a variety of high-tech, life cycle cost of aviation equipment increased substantially. For the life cycle cost of aviation equipment, the costs of using phase account for more than 50% of total costs. Therefore, the development of aviation industry call for a method to evaluate and predict the use phase affordability of aviation equipment. This paper defines the definition...
An indoor experimental model of flow in crossed smooth karst pipe and fissure is set up for testing hydraulic characteristic. The model and its measuring system, including crossed karst pipe and fissure and water circulation System etc., are introduced in detail. By use of the orthogonal design method, about 48 test data of hydraulic characteristic of crossed karst pipe and fissure are obtained under...
