Theranostics of Thrombosis
In article number 2205744, Hang Thu Ta and co‐workers present a novel nanoparticle (AgIONP) for theranostics of thrombosis. AgIONPs can specifically bind to thrombus. Exposure of AgIONPs to a near‐infrared laser leads to thrombolysis and restoration of the blood flow. AgIONPs can also be used as a multimodal diagnostic agent.
Thrombosis and its complications are responsible for 30% of annual deaths. Limitations of methods for diagnosing and treating thrombosis highlight the need for improvements. Agents that provide simultaneous diagnostic and therapeutic activities (theranostics) are paramount for an accurate diagnosis and rapid treatment. In this study, silver‐iron oxide nanoparticles (AgIONPs) are developed for highly...
Thrombosis contributes to one in four deaths worldwide and is the cause of a large proportion of mortality and morbidity. A reliable and rapid diagnosis of thrombosis will allow for immediate therapy, thereby providing significant benefits to patients. Molecular imaging is a fast‐growing and captivating area of research, in both preclinical and clinical applications. Major advances have been achieved...
Smart poly(2‐oxazoline) (POx)‐based multifunctional polymer capsules that specifically target glycoprotein (GP) IIb/IIIa on the surface of activated platelets are degraded by the serine protease thrombin and release the urokinase plasminogen activator loaded into the polymer capsules, only in the area of acute thrombosis.
