The motion of spin-polarized carriers in the direction perpendicular to an electrical bias constitutes the anomalous velocity. So far, this phenomenon has been studied in time-integrated spin and anomalous Hall effect experiments. Here, we excite GaAs with optical and terahertz radiation to induce the anomalous velocity on an ultrafast time scale. Studying the shape of the terahertz radiation emitted...
We generate ultrafast magneto-photocurrents in bulk GaAs and non-invasively separate surface and bulk contributions to the overall current. This method enables the investigation of processes such as anisotropic-distribution relaxation and the inverse Spin Hall effect.
We study THz radiation from magneto-optically induced ultrafast currents in GaAs. Magnetic field and excitation intensity are found to have a distinct influence on the shape of the THz traces. The results suggest that these currents are an appropriate tool to investigate k-space carrier dynamics in semiconductors.
We demonstrate all-optically induced real-space charge transfer in semiconductors, which reverses its direction upon a change of the temporal order of two excitation fields. Such charge transfer leads to a new type of photocurrent and only appears for certain polarization-shaped optical pulses while it ceases for continuous-wave excitation.
We study THz emission from magneto-optically induced ultrafast photocurrents in a GaAs crystal. Analyzing currents appearing in the direction of the externally applied magnetic field, we observe different current dynamics for linearly- and circularly-polarized excitation.
