Broadband fluorescence enhancement in Cr-doped fibers (CDFs) fabricated by drawing-tower integrated powder-in-tube with redrawing technique is proposed and demonstrated. The CDFs after heat treatment exhibited Cr+4 emission enhancement with spectral density of 200 pW/nm which was identified as the formation of α-Mg2SiO4 nanocrystalline structures in the core, observed by HRTEM.
The CDFs employing drawing-tower integrated non-silica powder-in-tube with redrawing technique is proposed. A reduction of transmission loss of 0.27 dB/cm at 1550-nm and a core non-circularity of less than 3% for the CDFs are achieved.
