In this paper, a novel comprehensive design, including inverter and motor topology, and PWM scheme, is proposed to reduce iron losses for high speed induction motors. In the proposed method, two inverters are connected with a twin-coil motor. Two counteracting PWM schemes are applied in the two inverters, feeding the same fundamental currents into the twin coils, meanwhile switching in opposite phase...
This paper presents a new technique, notching the induction motor rotor core, so as to reduce the electromagnetic noise by suppressing the vibration due to the rotor slot permeance harmonics. First, the principle of such technique is presented along with theoretical analysis. Then, finite element method is used to calculate the Maxwell force harmonics and the vibration spectra of a 5.5 kW 3000 r/m...
This paper aims at optimal analysis and design of a three-phase line-start PMSM with simple structure, low cost and good performance. A prototype with 4 magnet poles is designed and manufactured. Simulation and experimental results are approximately the same and the prototype essentially satisfies the design request. Moreover, measures are taken to further optimize the design.
