Ce 0.1–20% doped CaF2 crystals were prepared by Tokuyama Corp., and their scintillation and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) responses were systematically studied. In scintillation, Ce 0.1% doped sample exhibited the highest light yield while Ce 20% doped sample showed the strongest OSL intensity. Throughout this work, the complementary relation between scintillation and OSL was experimentally...
Transparent ceramic Yb-doped Lu2O3 were evaluate on scintillation properties. In X-ray excited radioluminescence, they exhibited Yb3+ charge transfer luminescence around 350 nm. Scintillation decay time profiles were investigated and they showed ultrafast scintillation of around ∼ 1ns. Light yields under 137Cs 662 keV γ-ray excitation were around 500 ph/MeV.
Temperature dependence of CdWO4 single crystal scintillator fabricated by Nihon Kessho Kogaku was evaluated from −30 °C to 60 °C with different excitation energies and different signal accumulated systems. Though the light yield was relatively stable than other famous scintillators, temperature dependence showed a dependence on excitation sources. The reasons will be blamed for the difference of the...
Single crystal LiCaAlF6 doped with Ce or Eu synthesized by Tokuyama Corp. were examined on dosimeter properties. In optically stimulated luminescence (OSL), Ce-doped LiCaAlF6 exhibited detectable signal while that of Eu-doped one was quite weak. In thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL), they both showed strong TSL and the linearity between the irradiated dose and TSL intensity was quite linear from...
0.1SnO-24.9SrO-75B2O3, 0.5SnO-24.5SrO-75B2O3, 0.5SnO-40Li2O-40B2O3-20SiO2, and 5SnO-60ZnO-40P2O5 glasses were developed and evaluated on their scintillation properties. They all exhibited a broad luminescent peak around 400 nm due to Sn2+ ns2 type emission. In pulse height spectra, the absolute light yield of the brightest sample, 5SnO-60ZnO-40P2O5,was around 400 ph/5.5 MeV-α.
Single crystalline Pr 1 and 5% doped KY3F10 scintillators were fabricated by Tokuyama Corp. In photoluminescence, they showed intense Pr3+ 5d-4f transition at 300 nm under 210 nm excitation with primary decay time of few ns. In X-ray induced scintillation spectra, they also exhibited intense Pr3+ 5d-4f emission around 300 nm. Scintillation decay times of Pr 1 and 5% doped KY3F10 were 4.5 and 2.5 ns,...
Ceramic Ce 0.1% doped Gd3(Ga,Al)5O12 scintillator fabricated by Konoshima Chemical was evaluated. In X-ray induced radioluminescence, intense emission peak appeared around 530 nm. When 137Cs 662 keV γ-ray was irradiated, scintillation light yield turned out to be 70000 ph/MeV by using Si-APD. Scintillation decay time was a typical value of Ce-doped garnet materials, ∼ 100 ns.
Undoped ZnS crystal was evaluated on its scintillation characteristics. In optical transmittance, high transparency of 70% was observed from UV to near infrared wavelengths. In X-ray induced radioluminescence, two intense peaks appeared at 430 and 520 nm. When 241Am was irradiated, its scintillation light yield resulted 500 ph/5.5 MeV-α.
