The mobile sensor networks (MSNs) have been widely deployed to provide an ubiquitous solution for time-sensitive applications in a specific area with low deployment cost. The monitoring area of an MSN can be divided into several sensing regions (SRs). In an SR, the mobile sensor (MS) is responsible for reporting the sensed data to the sink node. For the time-sensitive applications on MSN, the time...
In this paper, a two-phase geographic greedy forwarding (TPGF) routing algorithm is proposed in wireless multimedia sensor networks (WMSNs). TPGF is a pure geographic greedy forwarding routing algorithm, which does not include the face routing and does not use planarization algorithms. Simulation comparison in this paper indicates that TPGF is highly suitable for multimedia transmission in WMSNs.
While extensive studies have been carried out in the past several years for many sensor applications, they cannot be applied to the network with extremely low and intermittent connectivity, dubbed the delay/fault-tolerant mobile sensor network (DFT-MSN). Without end-to-end connections due to sparse network density and sensor node mobility, routing in DFT-MSN becomes localized and ties closely to medium...
Topology control in wireless ad hoc and sensor networks has been heavily studied recently. Different geometric topologies were proposed to be the underlying network topologies to achieve the sparseness of the communication networks or to guarantee the package delivery of specific routing methods. However, most of the proposed topology control algorithms were only applied to 2D networks where all nodes...
There is considerable interest in studying protocols for sensor networks. However due to the wide variation of sensor network applications and the constraints on hardware/software, existing protocols may only serve a specific sensor network application well or may be difficult to implement on real sensor nodes. In this paper, self-organized TDMA protocol (SOTP) for wireless sensor networks is presented...
