We have developed an all-optical approach to measure material mechanical properties using Brillouin light scattering. Brillouin imaging uses the elastic modulus as contrast mechanism. We demonstrate its application in vivo for tissue and cellular biomechanics.
We demonstrate that a clear image of an object hidden behind a turbid medium may be obtained by using speckle illumination and correlation measurement whereas coherent illumination only results distorted and blurred images.
We demonstrate a sub-Rayleigh imaging technique based on speckle illumination and the second-order correlation measurement. The image resolution is related to the speckle size or the lateral coherence length of the pseudothermal light.
We demonstrate sub-Rayleigh limit imaging of an object via speckle illumination. Imaging beyond the conventional Rayleigh limit is achieved by illuminating the object with pseudothermal light that exhibits a random speckle pattern. An object image is reconstructed from the second-order correlation measurement and the resolution of the image, which exceeds the Rayleigh limit, is shown to be related...
We present Brillouin confocal microscopy with high throughput and high extinction for non-invasive mechanical measurements of tissue and biomaterials. In particular, we demonstrate biomechanical characterization of crystalline lens and cornea.
