A new method to join TiAl workpieces by superplastic bonding is investigated. Significant microstructural refinement is achieved by laser treatment of the surface and thus, superplastic forming/diffusion bonding at a lower temperature and in a shorter time is achieved, and the bonding effects brought by temperature, pressure and time are discussed respectively.
