The next generation compression technology High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) can provide a substantially higher compression capability than the existing H.264/AVC standard. It has received increased attention and is lauded as the enabler for a host of new services and capabilities [4]. A better user experience for browsing videos on the limited and heterogeneous screen sizes requires streaming of...
High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), one of the latest video compression schemes proposed by Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding (JCT-VC) which is a partnership between International Telecommunication Union Video Coding Experts Group (ITU T-VCEG) and International Organization for Standardization Moving Picture Experts Group (ISO/IEC MPEG), has been promoted to Final Draft International Standard...
This paper proposes a new method for multiplexing — demultiplexing of AVS video and AAC audio stream that uses frame numbers as time stamps for achieving lip synchronization during playback. The packetization layers adopted for multiplexing the video and audio streams before their transmission conform to the MPEG-2 systems framework.
In this paper, an efficient multiplexing/demultiplexing scheme while achieving lip synchronization after decoding and playback of video and audio is presented. This has been achieved using MPEG-2 transport streams. Dirac video and AAC audio codecs have been used for compression.
Video coding standards: H.264/AVC, DIRAC, AVS China and VC-1 are presented. These are the latest standards and are adopted by ITU-T/ISO-IEC, BBC, China standards organization and SMPTE respectively. Besides presenting these standards, research potential and as well projects (both at UG and grad levels) are emphasized. These are available by accessing the database for research and projects in [18]...
Macroblock mode decision is the most expensive process in terms of computational power required. In any video codec motion estimation along with the macroblock mode decision consumes approximately 80% of the encoding time, resulting in encoding maximum of only 2 frames per second. This makes it almost impossible to implement a video codec without using specialized hardware, which causes problems like...

Joint Model (JM) reference software is used for academic reference of H.264 and it was developed by JVT (Joint Video Team) of ISO/IEC MPEG & ITU-T VCEG (Video coding experts group). The Intel IPP (Integrated Performance Primitives) H.264 is a product of Intel which uses IPP libraries and SIMD instructions available on modern processors. The Intel IPP H.264 is multi-threaded and uses CPU optimized...
Increased buffer insertion along on-chip global lines and growing amounts of leakage power have resulted in buffer-based leakage emerging as one of the chief contributors to system leakage power. In this paper, a bus system prototype is implemented in an industrial 65-nm SOI technology and measured results show up to a 45% reduction in total bus system power and an average reduction of 2.4?? in standby...
