This letter presents the design of a wide band 8th harmonic mixer, using an anti-parallel pair of planar Schottky GaAs flipp-chip diodes fabricated onto a suspended quartz-based microstrip circuit. Simulations predict conversion losses are well below 23dB from 330 to 500GHz. The design offers an solution to simplify the local oscillator signal generation and realize the goal of low frequency conversion...
This paper presents the design of a 110GHz frequency tripler realized by GaN-based planar Schottky diodes. The complete multiplying circuit and diodes is fabricated with a 127-um-thick Rogers/RT5880 substrate and is mounted in a split waveguide block. Simulation result shows that output power is achieved 100mW in 110GHz with a constantly 1.5W driven power.
A miniaturized and high Selectivity bandpass filter (BPF) with harmonic frequency suppression is presented in this paper. The BPF with a central frequency of 3.2 GHz and 200MHz bandwidth is implemented in a novel distributed stripline configuration using LTCC (low-temperature co-fired ceramic) technology. This feature of harmonic frequency suppression is very important in communication system to improve...
In this paper, a 340GHz GaAs monolithic integrated sub-harmonic mixer based on planar Schottky diode is presented. The mixer circuit is fabricated on a 12um GaAs substrate included planar Schottky diode in a balanced configuration, the passive RF/LO and IF matching networks, filtering circuits, as well as transitions from waveguide to suspended micro-strip. Simulated results for the 340 GHz mixer...
In this paper, a 325GHz Sub-Harmonic mixer with 70GHz bandwidth is presented. It will be used for a ultra wideband remote sensing system. The mixer circuit included planar Schottky diode in a balanced configuration, the passive RF/LO and IF matching networks, filtering circuits, as well as transitions from waveguide to suspended micro-strip. Simulated results for the 325GHz mixer achieved DSB conversion...
An investigation of W band avalanche diode high order frequency mixer is presented. The nonlinearity property of avalanche breakdown effect has evoked great interest in frequency conversion by high order harmonic. Theoretical analysis of harmonic character of avalanche diode is outlined. In experiment, a minimum frequency conversion loss of 18.1dB is obtained by 15th harmonic frequency mixer based...
The paper presents the design and fabrication of a low-loss fixed-tuned 118 GHz subharmonically pumped mixer, using commercially available GaAs Schottky barrier diodes flip-chipped onto a suspended microstrip circuit. The simulation performance of the mixer exhibits a double side band (DSB) conversion loss below 10 dB over the range of 113-123-GHz, with 6 mW of local oscillator (LO) power. At 118...
We report on the design, fabrication and testing of a 114GHz to 135GHz passive tripler. No mechanical tuners and the simple circuit topology make it easy and cheap to fabricate the tripler. The circuit design, simulation and optimization of the tripler are carried out by using HFSS and ADS. The tripler comprises waveguide housing, microstrip circuits and a pair of United Monolithic Semiconductors...
This paper presents the optimization and design of a low-loss fixed-tuned 215-235-GHz sub-harmonic mixer, pumped by planar GaAs Schottky diodes fabricated by European company for space-borne radiometers. The circuits are fully integrated with the RF/IF filter and flip-chipped onto a suspended quartz-based substrate. The GaAs Gunn oscillator is used as the local-oscillator (LO) and this paper also...
