We measure the nonlinearity and transparency of mixed GaSxSe1-x crystals and show that GaS0.4Se0.6 is a promising nonlinear material for mid-IR (>5 mum) OPO operation without two-photon absorption for a pump wavelength of 1064 nm.
Tetragonal (space group f4 macr) single crystals of NaY(WO4)2 doped with Yb to a density of 4.52 times 1020 cm-3 have been employed as laser active materials for the 1-mum spectral range, operating at room temperature. Using Ti:sapphire laser pumping, slope efficiencies as high as 74.6% were achieved without special cooling for the pi-polarization. The Yb-laser was continuously tunable from 1003.7...
Output power of 470 mW, slope efficiency of 64.5% and tunability between 1016 and 1049 nm are achieved with the novel disordered uniaxial crystal Yb:LiGd(MoO4)2. Both possible polarizations are compared and diode-pumping is also demonstrated.
We demonstrate output powers exceeding 4 W with continuous-wave, diode-pumped Yb:TVO4 (T=Y, Gd, and Lu) lasers operated at room temperature. The three orthovanadate hosts are compared in longitudinal and thin-disk pump geometries.
The smallest quantum defect (1.6%) for a laser crystal is demonstrated with a 125 /spl mu/m-thin plate of stoichiometric KYb(WO/sub 4/)/sub 2/. Pumped at 1025 nm, it emitted at 1042 nm.
