The optical study of single quantum dashes located inside a 2.5D photonic crystal structure is performed. The enhancement of the emission is observed for quantum dash in resonance with a slow Bloch mode.
Ultrafast optical bistability is demonstrated at 1550 nm in an InP-based two-dimensional photonic crystal distributed resonator. A low intensity threshold of 4 kW/cm2 is observed, with a contrast of 65% between the high and low reflectivity states.
