Using direct laser writing, we fabricate photoresist templates for 3D-2D-3D photonic crystal heterostructures. The optical properties of these structures are directly compared with scattering-matrix calculations, revealing good agreement, hence good sample quality.
We present spectrally resolved near-field transmission experiments on one-dimensional metallic photonic crystal slabs. The observed features depend on polarization and periodicity and are attributed to the excitation of waveguide modes or waveguide-plasmon polaritons
Nonlinear switching of an optical pulse through a defect state in a one dimensional photonic microstructured AlGaAs waveguide is observed. This effect is attributed to self-phase modulation of the input spectrum in the initial part of the waveguide.
