Development and characterization of monolithic, flip-chip compatible 2×50 Gb/s twin-IQ DQPSK MZ modulator chips - capable for hybrid assembly onto planar optical boards of advanced Tbit-capacity transmitter modules - is reported for the first time.
The linewidth of an improved 40 GHz modelocked laser diode is investigated. The influence of its operation parameters on linewidth and the resulting performance in a 40Gband-DQPSK system is evaluated.
We present a 53.5 GHz monolithic pulse source, applied as transmitter in a single-channel, 107 Gb/s RZ-DQPSK system with 100 GHz filtering. Error-free transmission over 480 km was demonstrated.
The development of compact 40 GHz pulse laser modules with a monolithic InP-based mode-locked 1.55 mum / 40 GHz MQW DBR laser chip inside is reported. The chip architecture and its optimization as well as the main fabrication challenges arising from the requirement of meeting standardized pulse frequencies and high laser chip yield are outlined. The excellent module performance data are emphasized...
