In this paper, the first results to show the power, bandwidth and RMS delay spread of an intra-vehicle optical wireless communication system from a passenger perspective are presented. This work builds upon a previous investigation of ours which had demonstrated potential for optical wireless deployment within a vehicle as a potential competitor to RF based systems. By now incorporating the presence...
This paper provides an initial analysis into the viability of implementing an optical wireless system for intravehicle communications. Based on the use of a simple linearly scalable infrared light-emitting-diode transmitter, the results for received power, bandwidth, and root-mean-square (RMS) delay spread are shown at more than 3000 locations within a sports utility vehicle. Several of these locations,...
We demonstrate that propagation through a silicon microring coupled-resonator optical waveguide can introduce spectral correlations between two or more light sources separated by almost 1 THz over information bandwidths upto 40 GHz.
Intensity and group delay are measured with high spectral resolution in long silicon microring coupled-resonator optical waveguides (CROWs), with the first experimental evidence that coherent oscillations of the coupled resonators constitute the propagating eigenmodes.
Silicon microring coupled-resonator optical waveguides (CROWs) with up to 235 unit cells are fabricated and measured. These are the longest CROW structures made, and both amplitude and group delay variation measurements are reported.
