This paper deals with the signal processing techniques to be applied in the reception of the Search And Rescue (SAR) system COSPAS/SARSAT distress beacons. The receiver unit has to estimate time delays and Doppler shifts of a set of satellite-relayed replicas of the original beacon in order to compute the position where the device has been activated. The Cramér-Rao Bound (CRB), which determines the...
This article study the performance enhancement that can be achieved by the introduction in the system of inter-satellite link (ISL) technology in GNSS systems. The use of ISL can improve both dissemination latency from 100 to 5 minutes (or lower) and determination accuracy from values below 65 cm (67%) to values well below 10 cm (67%). In this paper an OD&TS scheme for processing both the classical...
This paper presents a tracking scheme for residual frequency offset (RFO) affecting a digital video broadcasting (DVB-T) system. Comparisons of the algorithm with two previously reported estimators in terms of mean square error (MSE), complexity and convergence are performed. The proposed scheme improves performance and convergence while reduces the computational complexity.
For any mobile robot it is a major issue that of estimating its position into the working environment. Although this task is partly carried out through external sensors, incrementally computing the ego-motion of the robot using proprioceptive sensors still is a fundamental step to obtain an estimation of the robot displacement. In this work we deal with the sensor fusion problem for the case of a...
