The aim of this paper is to explain new technique for speech compression. Speech compression is the process of converting human speech signals into more compactable form for communication and storage without losing intelligibility of the original signal. Discrete wavelet transforms and Wavelet Packet decompositions are the recent techniques used to materialize compression. Malayalam, one of the South...
This paper explain a method which can be used in compression of speech signals. We used Malayalam (one of the south Indian language) spoken digit for the experiment. By using Wavelet packet decomposition approach we can successfully compress speech signals and reconstruct the original speech signals from the corresponding compressed one used.
