Social biotic colonies often perform intricate tasks by interindividual communication and cooperation. Inspired by these biotic behaviors, a DNA nanodevice community is proposed as a universal and scalable platform. The modular nanodevice as the infrastructure of platform contains a DNA origami triangular prism framework and a hairpin‐swing arm machinery core. By coding and decoding a signal domain...
Plasmonic enhancement induced by metallic nanostructures is an effective strategy to improve the upconversion efficiency of lanthanide‐doped nanocrystals. It is demonstrated that plasmonic enhancement of the upconversion luminescence (UCL) of single NaYF4:Yb3+/Er3+/Mn2+ nanocrystal can be tuned by tailoring scattering and absorption cross sections of gold nanorods, which is synthesized wet chemically...
Nanoparticles prefer to bind to a membrane with a surface coated by short or rigid ligands, as shown by computer simulations. To realize such a preferred configuration, the nanoparticle can spontaneously spin itself on the membrane surface, no matter what its initial orientation is.
The surprisingly spontaneous rotation behavior of nanoparticles whose surfaces are coated by two types of different ligands on the cell membrane surfaces are found by K. Yang, Y.‐Q. Ma, and co‐workers using computer simulations. As shown on page 1140 and illustrated in the lovely front cover of this special issue, such rotations of nanoparticles, and the final preferred configurations of nanoparticles...
