The catalytic oxidation of hydrocarbons was studied over a large range of equivalence ratio on an automotive oxidation catalyst loaded with Pt. Results show that the light-off temperature depends on the equivalence ratio, type of hydrocarbons, and length of catalyst. The hydrocarbon speciation suggests the occurence of a homogenous mechanism at high temperature and rich equivalence ratio.
