Amplification by Innoslab amplifiers has been applied to ultrafast laser pulses for many years. Recent progress in high power laser diodes and a new pumping scheme made application of ytterbium doped laser crystals which support subpicosecond pulse durations possible. Ultrashort pulse experiments were carried out with a Yb:KYW fs-oscillator (HighQ Laser Innovation GmbH).To enable shorter pulse lengths...
A diode-pumped ytterbium doped INNOSLAB fs-amplifier with 400 W output power was realized. The pulse duration of the output pulses was almost transform limited 682 fs for Yb:YAG at a pulse repetition rate of 76 MHz. This was achieved at room temperature without the use of any stretcher or compressor setup.
For high throughput applications a diode-pumped Yb:YAG Innoslab fs-amplifier, scalable to several 100 W, was realized. At 63.2 MHz repetition rate and 77 W average output power nearly transform and diffraction limited 786 fs pulses are achieved so far.
