A 2.5G/10G co-existing OFDMA-PON is demonstrated through 20km SSMF with 31dB loss budget. Only one receiver at the OLT and low-speed transceiver at the 2.5G ONUs are required, thereby reducing system complexity and cost.
In this paper, we experimentally demonstrate 22.4-Gb/s optical OFDM transmission over 1000 km SSMF with polarization multiplexing (POLMUX) and direct detection. To the best of our knowledge, this is the longest reach directly-detected POLMUX-OFDM experiment reported.
We propose and experimentally demonstrate the first 40-Gb/s MIMO-OFDM-PON. Superior performance over 20 km SSMF plus 15 dB attenuation is reported using polarization multiplexing and direct photo-detection, thereby significantly reducing implementation complexity and cost.
