An array of piezoelectric quartz crystals was used to detect volatile organic compounds such as hydrocarbons, chlorinated compounds and alcohols. Steady-state frequency shifts have been used as the input parameters for multicomponent analysis. The coating materials chosen were side-chain-modified polysiloxanes.
