This chapter introduces microelectrodes and microelectrode arrays which can be used for both fundamental and applied electrochemistry. The various approaches to fabricate such electrode transducers are critically overviewed with emphasis on meeting the requirement of sensors that can be used at the site of sampling, which are cost‐effective and yet reproducible.
