A novel scheme for high speed optical differential Manchester code generation is proposed and theoretically demonstrated using the structure of two nested Mach–Zehnder interferometers (MZIs). A 40Gb/s differential Manchester code is generated. The obtained signal quality performances show that, the proposed scheme experiences very low power penalty.
