Pterygiella luzhijiangensis Huan C. Wang, is described and illustrated as a new species endemic to Yunnan, southwest China. A broad generic concept of Prunus has been widely accepted and is supported by recent phylogenetic studies based on molecular data. As a consequence, some Chinese species previously placed in Cerasus, Lauro‐cerasus and Padus need to be transferred to Prunus. As a consequence, three replacement names and four new combinations are proposed. Information about their types and distribution is also provided.
