A new method, sol-gel autocombustion, is employed in the synthesis of magnetite (Fe3O4) by using citric acid and ferric nitrate as starting materials. Experimental results show that pure magnetite can be synthesized at a very low temperature in a large range of molar ratio of ferric nitrate to citric acid. The XRD results illustrate that the prepared samples have pure Fe3O4 phase. Electron microscopy...
In this study, freshness changes and shelf life prediction of cultured tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) stored at 0, 5 and 10°C were investigated. Total viable counts (TVC), the count of Pseudomonas spp. and total volatile basic nitrogen(TVB-N) in newly-caught tilapia were determined as 4.79±0.60 log cfu/g, 4.00±0.75 log cfu/g and 8.08±0.46 mg/100 g, respectively. At the end of shelf life, TVC, the...
As an example of semi-arid region in western part of Jilin Province, the hydro-chemical data of 48 shallow wells for more than 20 years were collected to study. The results showed that TDS increased continually which illustrated deterioration of groundwater quality. With the aim to protect groundwater resources, the influence factors of groundwater quality changes are the key points to be studied...
Thermal errors are very important to modern systems including both physical and biological systems. It is well known that temperature rise causes thermal expansion of an object and may induce internal stresses in the object when it is subject to constraints. It is further known that friction is a passive source of heat causing temperature rise in many systems. In this paper we present a critical review...
Many circadian rhythms exhibit two peaks, but most mathematical models of circadian rhythms have not examined this issue. The authors simulated the bimodal circadian substructure with a system of two coupled oscillators where one oscillator's natural frequency was in the circadian range (20-30 hr.) and the second oscillator's period was roughly half of the circadian period (e.g. 12.5 hr). The circadian...
