An antiferroelectric liquid crystal compound (MHOPBB) has been studied by means of low frequency dielectric spectroscopy. This compound shows various chiral smectic C phase and subphases : the SmC, the SmCα, and the SmCγ. In each of the phase detected one dielectric relaxation mode (soft mode and Goldstone mode) related to collective molecular fluctuation, was registered. In earlier work [1] in the...
In this work the analyze of stability of chiral smectic C subphase on the basics of dielectric spectroscopy is presented. The comparison of the dielectric relaxation parameters of the relaxation modes in each subphase of the same sample of MHPOPB measured in the time interval 4 months are shown.
